Paper boats, graphite, watercolor & gouche on Rives BFK, 11 x 14", 2012. |
This week I experimented with painting on a different type of paper. I used Rives BFK instead of my regular Arches watercolor paper. I like how I had more control over my pencilling, but the paper seemed pretty fragile compared to the heavy duty cold-press block I use. Overall, I liked it, and will have to play with it a little more; I'll definitely try using it for future projects.
Update (2/23):
This image is now available as a mini archival print in my
etsy store.

Gorgeous. I love seeing the art on the table "in situ" and the close-up version. Do you photograph or scan your final work for blog posts?
ReplyDeleteHI Helena! I used to photograph, but now I scan if I have time. My photography's pretty awful! This post is an example of why scanning is better for me: http://sarahdrawsthings.blogspot.com/2011/12/illustration-friday-separated.html yikes!
DeleteIf it's a work in progress post I always photograph, if it's a finished product I try to scan.
Beautiful image - I love the colors and the emotion it brings :)
