Sketchbook Project: Set

Set, pen, watercolor & acrylic ink on watercolor paper, 7 x 10", 2011.
I'm sooooo close to finishing my "Uncharted Waters" sketchbook for the Sketchbook Project!

My penultimate creature is the Egyptian god Set. Set was Osiris' brother. He's the god of chaos, conflict, and violence. In some myths he took the form of the deadliest animal in Africa, the hippopotamus!

  2. This is great! Scary. I love the designs in red. Yours is going to be a very fun sketchbook. I like how well the book holds together thematically. It could be published as a children's book about mythological creatures.

I did the Sketchbook Project in 2011 and interpreted the chosen theme very broadly so it felt more like a random collection of images.

  3. Bravicimo!

I'm familiar with Osiris but not Set. Very cool.

I dig the teeth jutting out in various directions. The yellow with red henna tats is rad too.

    Congrats!

  4. I love following along with this book! too bad you can't copy it and rebind it into copies (I think that would be really tricky, to match up everything just right)

Are you ever going to add anything to your etsy shop? inquiring minds want to know!

    1. Hi Ruth! Thanks!

I actually just purchase a very fancy printer to make archival prints, so once I get it figured out (and buy paper and ink)I'll add some stuff to the shop!
